The EAMT annual conference

The European Association for Machine Translation (EAMT) serves the growing community of people engaged with machine translation (MT) and translation tools, including researchers, developers, users and translators.

The annual EAMT conference regularly gathers 100–130 participants from across Europe, as well as guests from Asia and North America. Conference presentations feature in-depth looks at the latest MT research, tools, and technology, often before the technology has become widely available. Presentations also include enterprise case studies from large corporations and organizations using MT, best practices from the global localization industry, the fruits of cutting-edge research from universities and research centers, professional translators’ experiences, and the results of EU-funded ICT projects.

The conference draws participants from a range of organizations:

  • companies and institutions that already use or are potential users of MT
  • localization companies using MT in the translation workflow
  • renowned MT scientists and researchers
  • companies and institutions developing MT systems
  • R&D teams from both private companies and public universities
  • translation professionals

 EAMT 2023: Tampere

The 24th edition of the EAMT conference will take place in Tampere, the most loved residential and tourism city in Finland. Participants will enjoy Tampere’s unique combination of city and nature, the proximity of the conference venue and downtown areas, and of course, the light nights of Finland at midsummer. It is easy to fly into Tampere, but you can also fly into Helsinki and take the scenic 2-hour train ride north.

The conference venue will be Tampere University, which is within walking distance of the city centre and a number of hotels. https://www.tuni.fi/en
