Conference Day 2: Closing ceremony chaired by Yuzhuo Cai

The Triple Helix Conference 2020 came to the end after two days’ intensive and enjoyable discussion. All together more than 200 participants from more than 40 countries joined the conference online despite the exceptional time of pandemic.

The closing ceremony was chaired by Dr. Yuzhuo Cai, Chair of Triple Helix Conference 2020, Senior Lecturer and Adjunct Professor, Tampere University, Finland. He first expressed his acknowledgement to all the participants and presenters in the conference, not only for their active participation, but also for their understanding and full support when the conference was moved to an online platform. He also acknowledged the support from Tampere University, the conference organization committee and volunteers. 

Then Prof. Emanule Fiore, Executive Committee Member of Triple Helix Association also expressed his gratitude to the conference organization committee. Meanwhile, Prof. Fiore announced that based on the evaluation of relevance, scientific contribution and quality of writing, three excellent academic articles are awarded with the Best Paper Award in Triple Helix Conference 2020. They are:

  • “Leading Organizations in Information Exchange: University – Industry Collaboration Interfaces” by Dorian ALIU (Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Turkey) and Armando ALIU (Hasan Kalyoncu University, Turkey; and University of Cambridge, UK).
  • “Transregional access to innovation on demand” by Ninetta Chaniotou (Kainuun Etu Oy &  & Regional Council of Kainuu, Finland), Ari Lainevuo (Helsinki-Uusimaa Regional Council, Finland); Thomas Bartzanas (University of Agriculture, Greece) and Juan Carlos Martinez Barrio(CEEI Burgos, Spain)
  • “Actor-Network Theory Approach for Analysing the Imageries of the Relations between Research, Practice and Policymaking” by Sini Teräsahde (Tampere University, Finland)

Prof. Dimitry Corpakis, Executive Committee Member of Triple Helix Association, highlighted the importance of media today. He said  also that  Social Media Ambassador Award of the Triple Helix Conference 2020 will be announced on June 17th. The prize includes a one (1) year free membership for the THA

Prof. Riccardo Fini, scientific Chair of the Triple Helix Summit 2020 introduced the information of  the upcoming Triple Helix Summit in Bologna, Italy, from November 24 to 26, 2020. The 2020 Summit will focus on the theme “Designing globally connected regional innovation ecosystems: overcoming barriers and opening pathways“. The deadline for the proposal is August 15th, 2020. The summit will go virtual (blended).

Prof. Moacir de Miranda Oliveira Junior, Head of the Business Administration Department at University of São Paulo, Chair of the Organising committee of Triple Helix Conference 2021 greeted us and invited all participants to join the Triple Helix Conference 2021 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The theme of the conference is “Sustainable World”. More details will be announced on the Triple Helix Association Website. 

Then Ms. Yulia Shumilova (Researcher, Tampere University), on behalf of the Triple Helix Conference 2020 organization committee thanked all the 20 volunteers in the conferences and invited them to show their faces to the conference participants, and have a virtual group photo together. 

Last but not least, Prof.  Emanuela Todeva, Vice President of Triple Helix Association, concluded the conference by expressing her gratitude on behalf of Triple Helix Association. She thanked all organization committee members, particularly,  Dr. Yuzhuo Cai, Chair of the Organization Committee of Triple Helix Conference 2020 and congratulated him on the successful organization of the event. She also expressed her thanks to Prof. Mari Walls, President of Tampere University and Prof. Juha Teperi, Vice President of Tampere University, as they showed a good learning example of university leadership supporting the interaction among Triple Helix. Further, Prof. Todeva presented the thematic research groups in Triple Helix Association, and depicted the possible venues for future research of innovation and the use of Triple Helix Model. “Let’s keep Triple helix community alive and vibrant”, said Prof. Todeva.
