Location

The Spring School programme will take place on the ferry boat Silja Serenade from Helsinki to Stockholm and back. For more information on the cruise, please visit the ferry company Tallink-Silja website.

All participants willl be given their cabin key card and meal vouchers in the meeting at the ferry terminal on Wednesday April 3 at 11:00.

Access to ferry for the EuroPhotonics Spring School participants is opened at 11:30 on Wednesday April 3.

The cabins are not yet available at the beginning of the programme and participants should come to the Conference Center, on Deck 6. There will be a cloak room for your coats and bags reserved in the conference center.
The programme starts with lunch buffet served in the Grande Buffet restaurant.
The academic programme starts at 13:00 in the Conference Center, on deck 6.

Please note that the programme times on Thursday are Swedish time (CET +01:00) not Finnish time (CET +02:00).

On Thursday April 4, the participants will have free time 10-15 (Swedish time) durign which you can visit Stocholm or stay on the ferry (cabins are available). The cabins will be available 30 minutes before the ferry departs from Helsinki. Ferry leaves from Helsinki at 17:00.

The Spring School ends and ferry returns to Helsinki on April 5 at 10:30.

Accommodation in Helsinki before the Spring School

Most participants will need to arrive to Helsinki before the start of the Spring School.

  • Students arriving from outside Finland are advised to arrive on Tuesday April, 2. Students will be provided accommodation in Helsinki from Tuesday April2 to Wednesday April 3, 2024.
  • Europhotonics partner and associate partner university representatives who will attend the Consortium meeting on Tuesday April 2, may need to arrive already on Monday April 1, 2024. Academic and adminstrative participants will be reserved accommodation in Helsinki according to their need from Monday or Tuesday to Wednesday.

Accommodation in Helsinki for all participants will be in in Hotel Scandic Marina Congress .

Accommodation during the Spring School

All participants will have A-class cabin. The cabin will be available from Wednesday April 3 from 17:00 to Friday April 5 at 10:30. Students are asked to share the cabin (2 persons/cabin).

Please note that the cabins are not yet availabe when the Spring School starts on Wednesday April 3, but there will be a cloack room/ luggage storage room on the conference center premises.

The cabins are available during the day in Stockholm for your convenience and you can keep your luggage in the cabin also during that time.

Meals in the Spring School

Lunch on the ferry on the first day, breakfast buffets, coffee break services and dinners are included in the Spring School registration for all Spring School participants. All participants will receive meal vouchers for the breakfast with their canbinet keys. For the other meals you will need to have your Spring School badge with you.

Lunch on Wednesday will be served in the ferry’s buffet restaurant (Grand Buffet).

Breakfasts on Thursday and Friday will be served in the ferry’s buffet restaurant (Grand Buffet).

Coffee will be served in the Conference Center lobby areas (Deck 6) during the Spring School programme breaks.

Dinners will be served in the ferry’s buffet restaurant (Grand Buffet).

The Spring School participants will be reserved their own seating area and tables for dinner. On the first evening the dinner will be served to the table (three-course dinner) and on the second night there will be a dinner buffet.

Special diets will be taken into account if mentioned during the registration process.

Lunch on the Stockholm day on Thursday April 4, is not included as participants have free time in Stocholm.
