Where can I find a place where hats and/or swords can be rented? Can I offer my hat to be rented?
Unfortunately, Tampere University or the Conferment Committee does not act in an intermediary capacity to organise rentals. The promovendi purchase their own hats and swords. You should use search engines to find hat and sword rental services online and ask your networks for tips.
I have completed my doctoral degree after the last Doctoral Conferment but cannot participate in 2027. Can I take part in a Doctoral Conferment later?
Doctors who have graduated from Tampere University or its predecessors and have not participated in a Conferment before may participate at a later time.
Can I register for the Doctoral Conferment if my doctoral degree is not complete yet?
You may register for the event if your doctoral degree will be completed by Friday 29 January 2027. When registering for the event, a doctoral degree is regarded as completed if the Faculty Council has approved the dissertation, all studies required for the doctoral degree have been completed and you have applied for the doctoral degree certificate via the Sisu system by 29 January 2027 at the latest.
If you have registered for the Doctoral Conferment but your degree will not be completed by the required date, you may cancel your registration by 31 January 2027, and your registration fee will be fully reimbursed to you.
Can I bring my family and friends to the Conferment events?
Promovendi can bring one companion (plus-one) and one other guest to the main auditorium for the Conferment Ceremony on Saturday 12 June 2027 at 13.00-15.00 and invite at the most three other guests to watch the ceremony in a lecture hall where the main event will be streamed live. No fees will be charged of the guests following the Conferment Ceremony.
The procession from the Main Building on the city centre campus to Tampere Cathedral and Johannes school building on Saturday 12 June at 15.30-16.00 can be watched freely from the sidelines. The Conferment Church Service at Tampere Cathedral on Saturday 12 June at 16.15-17.00 is an open event.
