Markus Pessa International Summer School "New Frontiers in Optical Technologies" in conjunction with NETLAS Conference

General information

The International Summer School New Frontiers in Optical Technologies was established in 2001. The 11th edition organized on August 7 – 11, 2023 marks a name change to “Markus Pessa International Summer School New Frontiers in Optical Technologies” – a tribute to the memory of the late Prof. Markus Pessa, the founder of the Optoelectronics Reserch Centre in Tampere and the pioneer of optoelectronics and semiconductor laser technology in Finland.

The main topics covered: 1) Advanced  Laser Technologies; 2) Photonic Integration Technologies and Integrated Optics; 3) Quantum Technology; 4) Biomedical Imaging; 5) Student Mentoring Activities.

Summer school venue

The summer school will be held at Tampere University (TAU) , Hervanta Campus. The campus is located in Hervanta which is a suburb of the city located about 8 km south of Tampere city centre.
