Terrace on the Central Square (Keskustori)

Summer Terrace Restaurants is an open area in the Central Square (Keskustori), right in front of the City Hall where we will have a reception on Thursday. The terrace is shared by 8 restaurants. They serve drinks, snacks and meals (also vegetarian and vegan) ‒ and the atmosphere of Tampere in the city centre. The area seats 500 customers. The restaurants are open every day from 10 am to 10 pm.

 

Restaurants near the university

Old Mates Pub (Sumeliuksenkatu 18) has a traditional British pub atmosphere and pub food. Open Monday−Thursday 11 am to 11 pm, Friday 1 pm to 1 am, Saturday 3 pm to 1 am, Sunday 3 pm to 11 pm. Kitchen open every day until 10 pm.

Telakka (Tullikamarin aukio 3), favorite of students and locals, is a funky local bar and restaurant built in a 17th-century granary. Open Monday–Tuesday 11 am to midnight, Wednesday−Thurday 11 am to 1 am, Friday 11 am to 3 am, Saturday noon to 3 am, Sunday noon to midnight (kithchen closes 9.45 Monday−Saturday, 7.45 Sunday).

Tuhto (in Tampere Hall on Yliopistonkatu) offers Scandinavian cuisine in a glassed-in wing of Tampere Hall. Open Monday 11 am to 3 pm, Tuesday−Friday 11 am to 9 pm, Saturday noon to 7 pm, Sunday noon to 5 pm.

Sasor (Yliopistonkatu 50) serves classic Scandinavian cuisine. Open Monday–Thursday 11 am to 9 pm, Friday 11 am to 11 pm, Saturday 2 pm to 22 pm, closed Sunday.

 

Restaurants between train station and city center

Kajo address: Rautatienkatu 12) specialized in locally sourced food, serves only full menus (including a vegetarian one, vegan per request in advance). Open Tuoesday−Friday from 5 pm, Saturday from 3 pm.

Muusa (address: Satakunnankatu 10) with versatile, fresh menu, located in a cultural block, great vegetarian and vegan options. Open Monday−Thursday 4 pm to midnight, Friday 4 pm to 2 am, Saturday 1 pm to 2 am, Sunday noon to 4 pm (kitchen closes Monday−Saturday 9.30 pm).

Tampella (address: Kelloportinkatu 1) is located in an old factory building. If you’re lucky, you might get a window table right by the water. International cuisine with a local twist. Open Monday–Friday 11 am to 11 pm, Saturday noon to 11 pm and Sunday 1 pm to 9 pm.

Zeytuun (Tuomiokirkonkatu 21) serves Middle Eastern dishes. Open Monday−Friday 10.30 am to 9 pm, Saturday 11 am to 9 pm, Sunday noon to 9 pm.

Onni ja Leo (Rautatienkatu 14) serves Mediterranean food with a modern twist. Open Monday−Thursday 11 am to 9 pm, Friday 11 am to midnight, Saturday noon to midnight.

Pons (Hämeenkatu 13, 7th floor), a restaurant with a view! International, somewhat bold cuisine. Open Monday−Thursday 11 am to 11 pm, Friday 11 am to 3 am (kitchen 11 p.m.), Saturday 1 pm to 3 am (kitchen 11 pm), Sunday 1 pm to 10 pm.

 

Restaurants at city center

Tiiliholvi (Kauppakatu 10, basement), a traditional restaurant in an old bank vault. International gourmet cuisine. Open Monday–Friday 11 am to 9 pm, Saturday 2 pm to 9 pm.

Plevna (Itäinenkatu 8, a large Finlayson red brick factory at the northern end of the Central Square) is a brewery restaurant that has a dining hall with an atmosphere of Central European beer halls. A wide selection of brewery products and a varied menu. Open Monday 11 am to 11 pm, Tuesday−Thursday 11 am to midnight, Friday−Saturday 11 am to 2 am, Sunday noon to 11 pm.

Guru’s kitchen & bar (address: Aleksis Kiven katu 15), Mediterranean and Middle Eastern style cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere, many vegetarian and vegan options. Open Tuesday−Thursday 4 pm to 10 pm, Friday 4 pm to 11 pm, Saturday 2 pm to 11 pm, Sunday 2 pm to 8 pm.

Salsallada (address: Näsilinnankatu 21), serves small plates with tapas, sliders, soft tacos and more in a relaxed atmosphere; great cocktails (all available as mocktails, as well).Open Tuesday-Thursday 5 pm to 10 pm, Friday 4 pm to 22 pm, Saturday 2 pm to 11 pm.
