Dear participant of the Radical Care for the City week, 

Warmly welcome to Tampere next week! We’re delighted to have you with us here and look forward to meeting you all – most of you in person and some online. 

This message has been sent to all participants of the ATUT Symposium and/or Re-City Conference. Please find and pick up the information relevant to you below. 

The main events of the Radical Care for the City week are the ATUT Symposium and Re-City Conference, for which you have registered for either one or both. Please follow the links for further information. 

 Architectural Research Symposium ATUT 

 Re-City Conference 

The final possible changes in the programs will be made on Friday 24 October (ATUT) and on Wednesday 29 October (Re-City). 

Online participation 

We are happy to announce that we have combined the online participation of both ATUT and Re-City, so those who have registered for ATUT online program can also follow Re-City online program, and vice versa, Re-City online participants can follow ATUT online program; no extra fees for this. Please, note that only keynote speeches, panel discussion, and online sessions belong to the online program. Check out the ATUT and Re-City programs for their schedule. There will be no recordings available after the event.

Open Day program  

In case you are staying in Tampere on Wednesday 29 October, you are more than welcome to join the following program without any extra charge: 

9-15 PhD Seminar: Research Methods and Ethics 

Venue: Lyhty pavilion, Kalevantie 4, Tampere University  

The Open Day starts with the multidisciplinary PhD Seminar on Research Methods and Ethics. The registration is closed, and the event is full. We have sent separate information for the PhD Seminar participants earlier; Please remember to make your short pre-assignment by 27 October! 

15:30- TULE Future Senior Housing Seminar 

Venue: Paidia, Kansikatu 3, Nokia Arena 

In the afternoon, there will be a seminar organized by the TULE project (Future Senior Housing / Tulevaisuuden senioriasuminen) in Paidia. Read more and register here: TULE seminar. 

15:30-17 Aukio Launch Party  

Venue: Lyhty pavilion, Kalevantie 4, Tampere University) 

Parallel to the TULE Seminar, the Finnish Aukio e-journal launches its theme issue on Caring Cities, which we will celebrate with snacks and sparkling offered by the TURNS Research Platform. No registration is required. The special issue can be read here (in Finnish). 

18:30- Radical Care Evening Gathering 

Venue: Vastavirta Club, Pispalan valtatie 39 

The Open Day ends with the Radical Care Evening Gathering, that is, the ATUT post-party / Re-City pre-party at the Vastavirta Club. The evening includes a documentary, panel discussion, and live music. Drinks and food are at one’s own cost. 

No registration is required for the Evening Gathering, but an optional pre-registration was done via ATUT+Re-City registration form. A separate reminder will be sent soon to the pre-registered persons. The pre-registration was not binding, so you don’t need to cancel it if you are not able to join the event; also, you are still welcome to join the Radical Care Evening Gathering even if you haven’t pre-registered earlier. 

Other program 

Tuesday 28 October: a book launch in Cafe & Aula Toivo, Tampere University Main Building, starting at 17: Architectural Thinking in a Climate Emergency (open access) 

Thursday 30 October: Tampere City Reception in Vapriikki Museum at 18:00-19:30: Note that the Tampere City Reception is for both ATUT and Re-City participants. Registration for the reception was made via the ATUT+Re-City registration form and is marked on your name tag. You need to show your name tag with the City Reception code at the entrance.
