NORDTRIB 2026

9-12 June 2026, Tampere University, City centre campus

About the congress

The Nordic Tribology Symposium (NORDTRIB) is an international conference held every two years in one of the Nordic countries—Finland, Sweden, Norway, or Denmark. Since its inaugural edition in 1984 in Tampere, Finland, NORDTRIB has steadily grown in prominence and is now recognized as a significant forum for the global tribology community.

Over the decades, the symposium has become an important meeting point for researchers, engineers, and professionals from universities, research institutes, and industry, offering a platform to present cutting-edge research, exchange ideas, and engage in in-depth discussions on the latest developments in the field of tribology.

NORDTRIB 2026 will mark a return to its roots as it will be hosted once again in Tampere, Finland, and organized jointly by Tampere University and the Finnish Society for Tribology. The event will take place at the Tampere University City Centre Campus, providing an inspiring academic environment in the heart of one of Finland’s most vibrant cities.

The conference will focus on both fundamental and applied research of friction, wear, fretting, and lubrication covering all scales (from nano to macro). Scientific contributions in all aspects of tribology, including experimental studies, modelling, materials development, and surface engineering, are welcome. Scientific works covering global sustainability challenges, such as environmentally responsible solutions and innovations related to the future of energy use are especially encouraged.

NORDTRIB 2026 aims to foster interdisciplinary dialogue and international collaboration, providing a platform for networking, knowledge exchange, and shaping future tribological science and technology.

We look forward to welcoming you to Tampere in June 2026!
