9th Nordic Conference of Epidemiology and Register-Based Health Research

Nordic Conference of Epidemiology and Register-Based Health Research is organized biennially and this year it is arranged for the 9th time. It is the leading event in its field in the Nordic countries with some 200-250 participants attending.
The conference covers a broad spectrum of disciplines and health issues, ranging from public health, medicine, veterinary sciences, biostatistics, health care research and biostatistics. The topics include disease occurrence and population burden attributable to various exposures, health inequalities, and issues in research methodology from study design and data analysis to causal inference. The Nordic countries provide unique opportunities for health research utilising extensive population-based registries of specific diseases or health conditions, health services use, socio-demographic factors in addition to population dynamics.
Special themes for this year’s conference include Epidemiology beyond associations, Epigenetic epidemiology, Open data in epidemiology, New data sources, Life-course and intergenerational studies, with plenaries and sessions on these themes.
Tampere University has a large unit of public health within Faculty of Social Sciences, as well as major research projects focusing on register-based studies of health outcomes in Faculty of Medicine and Health Technology and other faculties. Tampere University is the newest and second largest university in Finland after the merger of the University of Tampere and Tampere University of Technology in January 2019.
Finnish Epidemiology Society is the organizer of the conference jointly with Tampere University.

Tampere is both the sauna capital and the Moomin capital of the world and conference fee includes entry to the Moomin Museum located in the Tampere Hall, next to the conference venue, university Main building at the City centre campus.
