Tampere is Finland’s third-largest city, with a population of around 260,000. It has been voted Finland’s best city for students on numerous occasions. The Tampere University is Finland’s second-largest university, with over 23,000 students.

The city is situated on an isthmus between two large lakes. The lakes are connected by the Tammerkoski rapids, which flow through the city from Lake Näsijärvi to Lake Pyhäjärvi. The long industrial history of Tampere is reflected in its cityscape. Today Tampere is a vibrant city of culture and events.
