Laboratory tours

You have possibility to visit up to three laboratories during the Materials Science Day. Please sign in to the tours in registration. There is limited number of places in the tours.

Ceramics additive manufacturing
– Binder jetting and stereolithography 3D-printing of ceramic materials.

Hydrogen laboratory and fuel cell fabrication laboratory
– How to facilitate research related to green hydrogen production by solid oxide electrolysis and electricity production from fuel cells?

Ice laboratory for icing research
– Cold climate room within walking distance. Please put on your coat.

Split Hopkinson Bar laboratory
– How to run tension and compression experiments in microseconds and how to use high speed cameras to see what happens? Includes also Psylotech µTS system that has traveled several times to MAX IV laboratory.

Thermal analysis laboratory
– How to study changes in mechanical properties, dimensions, thermal conductivity, or weight of the samples as a function of temperature?

Thermal and cold spray coating laboratory
– Novel coating processes with sophisticated process parameter optimization, including plasma, HVAF, cold spray, suspension spraying. Bonus: Instrumented pendulum impact tester.

Tribology and surface modification laboratory
– Tribology and machine elements test rigs, including novel universal tribometer and ultrasonic nanocrystal surface modification system.
