Travelling to Tampere
As our conference approaches, it is time to start organizing your travel plans to Tampere. Here, you will find some practical information on transportation from Helsinki to Tampere, visas and other document requirements, tips for accommodations, and some general tips for getting familiar with Finland.
Transportation to Tampere. Travelling to Tampere from Helsinki Airport can be done in two ways:
- Train from Helsinki airport to Tampere train station in the city centre. This option takes around 1 hour and 40 minutes. Video guide (coming soon) on how to get to the trains from Helsinki-Vantaa Airport
- Flights going from Helsinki to Tampere. This option takes around 45 minutes. At least two flights per day depart Helsinki for Tampere. When purchasing tickets, they usually include a bus trip from Tampere airport to the city centre.
Visas and other documents.
Finland is part of the European Union and thus obliging to its travel restrictions. Check here for the visa and other document requirements for visiting the country. If you plan to travel through the UK, you should prepare for immigration checks there, even though your final destination is Finland. For that, we encourage you to check the regulations for UK entry at https://www.gov.uk/uk-border-control.
Accommodation in Tampere.
The conference organizers secured a reasonable hotel rate at the Courtyard Tampere City Marriot, just 3 minutes from the conference venue. However, participants can choose from a wide range of hotels, hostels, and Airbnb accommodations less than 5 minutes from the venue. Here is a list of options:
