Tentative program and pre-conference activity

Tentative program

You can now access the Tentative program for the 51st AME conference. In the tentative program, we inform about the structure of the event. Presenters will be announced on the final program in July.

Pre-conference activity  –  JME Trust Invited Writing Workshop

Tampere, Finland 6 August 2025

The JME Editorial Board is looking to increasing the supply of individual high-quality articles submitted for review to the journal, also noting that the translation of annual conference submissions into articles published in the JME is currently quite low.

We invite you to apply to be considered for a workshop to be held the day before the next AME conference, on 6th August 2025 at the conference venue in Tampere, at which we will offer time, space and an opportunity for mentoring support for up to twelve authors. Those eligible to apply will be individuals:

  • whose abstracts have been accepted for the next AME Conference in Finland;
  • who attend the AME Conference in person; and
  • who demonstrate the potential to develop their conference submission into an article suitable for publication in terms of academic quality and connection to the aims and scope of the JME https://www.tandfonline.com/journals/cjme20/about-this-journal#aims-and-scope.

How to apply

Please send the following by email to janet.orchard@bristol.ac.uk by April 10th,  2025:

  1. A covering letter (one page maximum) in which you provide some basic data: your present institution and country of current employment/residence, role or job title, and the date on which your doctorate was awarded, if applicable.
  2. Your AME submission (abstract and title)
  3. A short CV (two pages maximum) including details of publications.
  4. An outline of the proposed article (2,000 words maximum, including references) illustrating the potential of the abstract and title submitted to develop into a full article suitable for JME.

Applications will be assessed by members of the JME Trust, once the abstract and title have been accepted for the conference. If we receive more than twelve suitable applications, we will prioritise applications from early career researchers looking to develop their academic publications list and who reside/work in countries with lower GDPs. (See https://www.worldometers.info/gdp/gdp-per-capita/.)

The workshop will take place in Tampere, and we expect authors to be present in person. The JME Trust will fund one night’s accommodation per participant to a maximum of 170 euros, and provide a light breakfast, working lunch and dinner on 6 August. The JME Trust will also organise a mentor who will read the outline of the proposed article, give feedback and be available for discussion during the workshop. After the workshop, we expect authors to develop their work into full-size articles (5000-7000 words including references) for submission to the JME in the usual way. We hope for, but cannot guarantee, the acceptance of these submissions as this is a decision made by the JME Editor and editorial team. While articles can be co-authored, only one author per article can attend the workshop.
