Miina Arajärvi on yhteiskuntatieteiden tohtori, laillistettu sosiaalityöntekijä ja opiskelee tällä hetkellä oikeustieteiden maisteriksi. Miina on työskennellyt sosiaalihuollossa lastensuojelussa, päihde- ja mielenterveyspalveluissa, sekä vankisosiaalityössä. Terveydenhuollossa Miina on työskennellyt sekä nuoriso että aikuispsykiatriassa potilastyössä sekä sosiaalityön kehittämistehtävissä. Miinan väitöstutkimus käsittelee sosiaalityön psykososiaalista asiantuntijuutta psykiatrian moniammatillisessa yhteistyössä.

Sara Lilliehorn is an Associate Professor of Social Work at Umeå University in northern Sweden, where she serves as both research coordinator and coordinator of the Master’s Programme in Healthcare Counselling. Lilliehorn is a trained social worker and licensed healthcare counsellor (the official English term in Sweden for a licensed healthcare social worker) with extensive clinical experience in oncology care. She is also a member of the steering group for the Swedish Network for Research in Social Work in Healthcare.

Lilliehorn’s research has consistently focused on health, evolving from individual-centred perspectives on everyday life with cancer to include professional practice with a particular emphasis on the healthcare counselling-profession, as well as broader system-level approaches. Her current work explores user involvement at the system level within the field of mental health.

Miia Ståhle on väitöskirjatutkija Itä-Suomen yliopistossa, laillistettu sosiaalityöntekijä ja hyvinvointipalveluiden erikoissosiaalityöntekijä. Aiemmin hän on toiminut Terveyssosiaalityö ry:n puheenjohtajana, ja hänellä on pitkä kokemus terveydenhuollon sosiaalityöstä ja sen johtamisesta sekä kehittämisestä. Väitöstutkimus käsittelee suomalaisen terveydenhuollon sosiaalityön 100-vuotista historiaa ja sijoittumista Suomen sosiaalityön kokonaisuuteen eri vuosikymmeninä. Puheenvuorossaan Miia Ståhle keskittyy pohtimaan, mikä on terveydenhuollon sosiaalityön yhteiskunnallinen merkitys ja tavoite sekä miten historiatieto tukee tätä näkökulmaa.

Veronica Svärd is an associate professor in social work at Södertörn University in Sweden, where she coordinates the Master’s Programme in Healthcare Counselling. Svärd is a licensed healthcare counsellor (the official English term in Sweden for a licensed healthcare social worker) and has worked clinically at Karolinska University Hospital. She is also a member of the steering group for the Swedish Network for Research in Social Work in Healthcare, and an affiliated researcher at Karolinska Institutet.

Svärd’s research concerns social determinants of health and social work in various healthcare contexts. Her research focuses on professional jurisdiction and discretion, interprofessional work, interorganisational collaboration, as well as patient perspectives and social rights. She conducts research on the work and competence of healthcare social workers, and in recent years on the newly implemented role of return-to-work coordinators in Swedish healthcare. In her speech, Svärd will focus on social determinants of health as an important conceptual framework and research area for social workers within and beyond the healthcare setting.
