The annual flagship scientific event of the Finnish Political Science Association and Finnish political research, the FPSA Annual Conference, will be held at Tampere University on 6–8 May 2026. The theme of the conference is Turbulent times in world politics.
In an era of geopolitical fragmentation, ecological crisis, and technological acceleration, world politics is being fundamentally redefined. The contemporary turbulence in world politics cannot be understood without examining how authority, vulnerability, and control are reorganized. New infrastructures embed political decisions in technical standards, redistribute power between states and private corporations, and create new dependencies that can be exploited in moments of crisis. For researchers, it is paramount to understand these infrastructures, which reorganize authority, vulnerability and control, and situating emerging debates within questions of sovereignty, politics and governance.
We invite scholars from political science as well as other disciplines, and professionals working on related topics, to examine global political issues, the increasingly complex world of political activity, and the evolving directions of world politics. The approaches of workshops and presentations may be based on both national and international perspectives, as well as disciplinary and interdisciplinary viewpoints.
