5th Nordic State Audit Seminar (NSAS) will be organized at Tampere University, Finland 23-24 May, 2024. The seminar takes place in the context of rapidly changing environment of crisis, emergencies, security threats and sustainability challenges. State audit systems are increasingly expected to contribute to resilience and robustness of the Nordic societies. NSAS aims to connect research and practice as well as researchers and practitioners of state audit in the Nordic countries to facilitate understanding and development of state audit institutions. For that, the workshop includes both research-based presentations and presentations by state audit experts from the Nordic NAOs. We welcome proposals for presentations on the following themes.
- Making things auditable – Sustainable development as an audit object in the Nordic SAIs
- What is sustainability as an audit object for the Nordic SAIs? (ESG, Agenda 2030 etc.)
- How are sustainability-related activities audited? Experiences, examples
- What can be audited in sustainability? What should be audited, but is not? What is audited, but even too much?
- Auditing security, foresight and system-level preparation of the Nordic countries
- International security environment and threats in the Nordic countries – impacts on the audit topics, objectives and strategies of the Nordic SAIs
- Turbulence and risks realized – pandemics, crisis and wars challenging Nordic SAIs
- Auditing systems and practices of national defense systems and procurements in the Nordic countries
- Collaboration between Nordic SAIs in the area; examples and experiences
- Nordic SAIs addressing corruption
- How is corruption associated with the mandates of the Nordic SAIs? How is it addressed, conceptualized and identified?
- Prevention of corruption in SAIs activities; oversight, risk management and audit strategies
- Perspectives from accounting and audit research
- Practitioners’ perspectives, experiences from the Nordic SAIs
