GNSS positioning using smartphone technology

Special Session in ICL-GNSS 2021

Chairs:

  • Vincenzo Di Pietra, Politecnico di Torino, Italy
  • Paolo Dabove, Politecnico di Torino, Italy
  • Marco Piras, Politecnico di Torino, Italy

Session rationale and content:

This special session solicits submissions that focus on all aspects of GNSS positioning using smartphones.
The access to the raw GNSS measurements acquired by the low-cost chipset installed in commercial smartphones enables numerous possibilities for real-time spatial related applications. This has allowed the development of different apps and positioning techniques, and today a sub-meter level of accuracy is obtainable also in real-time, with these devices. Although improvements to this technology have been adopted, it is changing rapidly according to the market’s requests. In this context, all contributions related to the new improvements in terms of sensors, technologies and methodologies related to GNSS positioning with smartphones are really welcome.
