Voted year after year as the most popular city to live in, visit and study, Tampere combines functionality and charm with a conveniently compact setting. The city centre is steeped in history, dominated by the national landscape of the Tammerkoski rapids and iconic red-brick factory buildings. In recent decades, Tampere has become known for its bold – some might say even reckless – construction projects, such as the Tampere Tunnel, Nokia Arena and the tram network.
