Entrepreneurship Education Conference

Welcome to the YKTS Entrepreneurship Education Conference organised by the Tampere University Community 24.-25.9.2025. The Tampere University Community, in cooperation with the Entrepreneurship Education Research Association, is organising the 2025 YKTS Entrepreneurship Education Conference in Tampere on 24.-25.9.2025.

The main theme of the conference will be “Changemakers in Entrepreneurship Education”. We will look at change from a broad entrepreneurship perspective, how we can support the development of work-life and entrepreneurial skills through entrepreneurship education research, education and practice.

We are constantly hearing and reading through various information channels that our society is undergoing major changes. There is increasing global uncertainty and uncertainty about the future. Layoffs, redundancies, part-time and casual work are so often served up in various news reports and social debates. At the heart of these debates are the demands of work, new types of jobs, new ways of doing work, the need for completely new skills, competences and abilities, and the challenges posed by work that is not tied to a specific time and place. On the other hand, change also brings opportunities. Too often, however, we hear “education and training do not equip us to meet the skills needs of employers today and in the near future”.

Research has therefore highlighted the need to increase entrepreneurship education and link it to the everyday life and practices of the education system as a whole. Entrepreneurship education is seen as supporting the generic skills that people need in a broad range of working life and as entrepreneurs.

As a teacher, you are an enabler of change, part of the change process. As a researcher, you get to the deeper essence of change, what causes change. As a student, as a learner, you are a change agent, as well as an enabler of change. As an entrepreneur, as a company, change is constant and you must be able to anticipate it.

Entrepreneurship Education Conference brings together entrepreneurship education research and practice

The YKTS Entrepreneurship Education Conference is aimed at researchers, teachers and practitioners interested in entrepreneurship education. The specific aim of the YKTS Entrepreneurship Education Conference is to bring research and practice closer together. The two-day conference format also provides an excellent opportunity for young researchers to practice writing and presenting conference papers. The YKTS Entrepreneurship Education Conference includes inspiring keynote speeches, research presentations, project and case presentations, and functional workshops on a variety of themes that change each year. The main content of the conference will consist of presentations by Finnish participants. However, each year the conference also features keynote presentations by international researchers, and there is also the opportunity to present your own research in English. A book of articles or abstracts will be published.

The first meeting of researchers and practitioners in entrepreneurship education (YKTT) took place in Vaasa in 2007. The annual network meetings and the YKTT eventually led to the establishment of the Research Society in 2009. The name of the annual meeting was established as Entrepreneurship Education Days, and from 2021 onwards the event will be called YKTS Entrepreneurship Education Conference. The Research Society is the organiser of the YKTS Entrepreneurship Education Days together with a different university each year.
