Social program: Online Film Festival

In collaboration  with Tampere Film Festival we are exited to present to you the following films which are available in the conference platform. 

An online live discussion 1: Tuesday 11th of May at 12.00-13.00

The director of the film “Nina”, Hristo Simeonow, will be interviewed about the film from a youth researcher’s perspective by adjunct professor Sofia Laine. Come and join the discussions!

An online live discussion 2: Monday 17th of May at 16.30-17.30

The director of the Tampere Film Festival Jukka-Pekka Laakso and Prof. Zsuzsa Millei will have discussion about the films selected for our conference “Childhood and Time”. Come and join the discussion taking place after the main conference!

Gods of Molenbeek

The district of Molenbeek-Saint-Jean in Brussels has become world-famous as a center of jihadism, but for six-year-old Aatos and his friend Amine, it is a familiar home. Here, they listen to spiders, discover black holes, and fight about what is going to steer a flying carpet. Together they search for the answers to life’s big questions. But the brutality of the adult world makes itself known when terrorists detonate a bomb in the neighborhood. Aatos envies Amine’s Muslim faith and looks for his own gods, although his classmate Flo questions him; she is strongly convinced that anyone who believes in God is completely nuts. Gods of Molenbeek is a wonderful portrayal of childhood friendship, inquiry and the creation of meaning in a chaotic time.

Lake of happiness

In a small Belarusian village where time seems to stand still, Jasja, a nine-year-old girl, has to deal with her mother’s death. Her farther decides to send her to an orphanage. But one day she decides to run away and go back home.

Films made by children and youth

Pirkanmaan elokuvakeskus (the movie center of Pirkanmaa) has done movies related to recycling and consumption with children and adolescents for several years now. The ideas, script and artistic work of the movies are done by the children. The movie center of Pirkanmaa provides equipment, assistance with the structure of the movie script and edition. The project is supported by the Pirkanmaan Jätehuolto (Waste management of Pirkanmaa).
