Arriving
The meeting will be held at the Arvo building in Tampere University’s Kauppi campus (Arvo Ylpön katu 34).
If you arrive Tampere by flight, you are referred to this page for more information.
Mostly likely you will arrive by train, so follow the instruction to reach the conference venue.
From Helsinki Airport to a Main Railway Station in the Helsinki Area (by local train):
- At Helsinki Airport, follow the signs to the “Railway Station” (Rautatieasema). The station is located underground between Terminals 1 and 2, with direct escalator and lift access from the arrivals and departures halls.
- Take either the I or P local train. Both trains connect the airport to the Helsinki city center area, traveling in a loop in opposite directions. The I train takes approximately 33 minutes to reach Helsinki Central, while the P train takes about 28 minutes.
- You can purchase a ABC zone ticket for this local train journey using the HSL mobile app or from ticket machines at the airport train station.
- You can travel to either Helsinki Central Railway Station or change trains at Tikkurila station (just three stops away from the airport), which are also on the I and P train routes and serve as transfer points for long-distance trains to Tampere. Changing at Tikkurila might sometimes offer a slightly shorter overall travel time to Tampere, as these stations are located before Helsinki Central on the route from the airport.
From the Helsinki Area to Tampere Train Station (by intercity train):
- From either Helsinki Central or Tikkurila, you will take a long-distance train operated by VR (Finnish Railways) to Tampere.
- The train is usually around 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the type of train and the number of stops. Journeys from Tikkurila to Tampere are slightly shorter.
- You are recommended to purchase your train ticket to Tampere in advance using the VR mobile app. Tickets can also be bought from the inspector in the train with a visa card, Apple pay, or Google pay, online via the VR website, from ticket machines at the station, or from a VR ticket office.
After you arrive at Tampere:
- You could also take a taxi to our faculty via Taksi Tampere. The address is Arvo Ylpön katu 34.
- Take tram line 1 toward TAYS. The closest tram stop away from the railway station is “Rautatieasema”.
- Tram line 1 departs every 6-7 minutes. You can pay by a visa card, google pay, or apple pay (if your card supports contactless payment, directly put it next to the card reader on the tram) or use the card reader to scan the QR code in Nysse app on the tram.
- Ride to the final stop “Kaupin kampus” and the Arvo building is located right at this stop.
- There are several entrances for Arvo and the closest one to the conference venue is shown below (the red arrow) or after you enter the Arvo building you may follow the sign to find the Jarmo Visakorpi auditorium
